The Dress Code: Creative Black Tie

Hi friends & family—the stylist in me couldn’t resist creating a Dress Code page for the wedding. So if you’re here in search of what to wear, welcome, and I hope you find this helpful!

What is Creative Black Tie?

Who said formal has to be boring? Creative black tie is black tie that breaks the rules. All colors except white are welcome, including red and black. All we ask is that you treat this occasion as an opportunity to dress up—believe me, when you see the interior of Carlotta, you’ll be glad you did!

For ladies, the length of your outfit is up to you; from midi-length cocktail dresses to standout suits or full-length gowns, wear what makes you look and feel your best.

Gentlemen, you are welcome to dust off that tux or wear a sharp suit in the color of your choosing.

A Note on Sustainability

Sustainable fashion is an initiative that means the world to me. If I may, I’d love to encourage you to try a sustainable method for acquiring your fashion or accessories for this special occasion. Some ideas include:

  • Shopping secondhand from sites like The RealReal, eBay, Vinted, Poshmark, or Vestiaire Collective

  • Buying or borrowing vintage accessories

  • Wearing something you already own

What are the No-Gos?

I think you all know me well enough to know this, but just in case...please, no:

  • Sundresses

  • White clothing

  • Hawaiian shirts

  • Flip flops

  • Tennis shoes

  • Shorts

  • Jeans
